The interior of the new Mercedes AMG GT
The Mercedes SLS is coming towards the end of its shelf life and, although it’s not getting a direct replacement, the new Mercedes AMG GT will fill the void left by the SLS. Due to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October, Mercedes has decided to throw in a bit of a sneak peak at the AMG GT ahead of that and take a bit of the gloss off some of the new reveals at the New York and Beijing Motor Shows this month. So we get a look at the interior of the AMG GT in two photos (above) which show a cabin that makes it clear the AMG GT has a healthy dose of Grand Tourer in its nature, with lashings of leather and technology to make the AMG GT’s cabin a pleasant place to be.
THE PENALTY for using a mobile phone while driving could be doubled under proposals being examined by the Government as part of a safety drive, Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe has called for offenders to be handed six points on their licence rather than the present three, meaning a ban from getting behind the wheel if caught twice in three years. Mr McLoughlin said it was an "interesting suggestion" that he was considering in an effort to end the "appalling" number of people killed and seriously injured in accidents where a phone was being used in the hand.
The Mercedes CL Grand Edition signals the end of the current CL range
The 2012 Mercedes CL Grand Edition has been released with designo extras, AMG bits and new alloys. If we didn’t already know the current Mercedes S Class was coming to the end of its shelf life, the launch of the Mercedes S Class Grand Edition last summer confirmed it. And just to make sure we’re in no doubt, Mercedes has now launched a Grand Edition of the S Class Coupe with AMG extras, designo bits inside and out and new alloys, to finally consign the current S Class saloon and coupe to history – the Mercedes CL Grand Edition.
